Service Description

Artist Lizzie Cardozo is hosting a Cyanotype workshop at the lovely space in in south east London Forest, Arch 4 Deptford Station, Deptford Market Yard, Deptford, SE8 4NS Cyanotype photography is a camera-less technique that involves laying an object on paper coated with a compound of iron salts before exposing it to sunlight / UV light and washing with water to create white and blue images. – Where the name blue prints comes from! In this workshop you’ll gain further knowledge of cyanotype print making from mixing chemicals to treating paper to create your own beautiful vivid cyanotype prints. What’s included?  Mindful making workshop where Lizzie will guide you through the cyanotype process thinking about composition and photography. (no prior experience needed for this process)  Lizzie will start by showing you an example of the process from start to finish.  You will treat your own paper during the session ready for exposing.  You’ll learn how to make your own cyanotype print using a variety of objects/collected specimens provided by the Lizzie.  Make and take away 3 prints on quality watercolour paper. You are more than welcome to bring along any leaves or flowers you'd like to use which are transparent or have a nice outline thinking about the negative space of your object. Please note: *Please be aware if any chemicals get on clothing it will stain* *UV lamps will be used in the workshop* *Any chemicals that come into contact with the skin is advised to be washed off* All materials will be provided. 12 people maximum. Some prints may still be drying at the end of the workshop and will need to continue to dry at home. Colours will deepen over the next 24 hours after the workshop is finished.
